The mission and core elements of MANUP Global fuel our commitment to promoting safe, positive and growing environments for everyone. We aspire to cultivate an atmosphere that is accountable and inclusive. The bottom line, we believe in making men matter and we’re sticking to it.
Our Goal
Those of us who serve at MANUP have one universal goal. To be a mentoring organization that is dedicated to improving the lives of families and urban communities by encouraging and empowering men to be agents of change and growth in their various communities. MANUP motivates men to serve as catalysts for positive change in their personal lives and various communities.
Our Purpose
According to several studies, African American boys are likely to experience different outcomes as adults. Statistically, they’ve faced disproportionately high suspension and drop out rates, mass incarceration and to father children they will not live with or parent. African American boys growing up in the child welfare system are likely to cycle in and out of the criminal justice system, struggle with substance abuse and or behavioral challenges and mental illness.
When done well, mentoring can be transformative. It can inspire and guide people to pursue successful and productive futures, reaching their potential through positive relationships and utilization of community resources.
MANUP mentorship does not simply want to provide mentors for young people because they are just lacking positive adult male role models (and many are). Instead, we provide mentors to enable them to successfully make the transition from boyhood to adulthood. The objective is that these young men will become productively engaged adult citizens of society.

We love what we do here. But even more – we love the people we get to do it with.
We're still collaborating, growing ourselves and each other, taking multiple coffee breaks and lovingly forcing people to sit through our singing on their birthdays. We power through strategy, innovative solutions, support and the love for our community and helping to change lives… and come back the next day to do it all over again. How selfish would it be to keep that to ourselves. We want to share our entire organization experience with you.
CORE VALUES
The culture that MANUP has built is a very special and unique one. Our core values are the principles and priorities that guide our organization’s actions. They represent the foundational beliefs that our identity is wrapped in and the model for our staff, leaders, and volunteers.
Our Board
MANUP Board of Directors is composed of community and national leaders with expertise in a wide range of areas, including training, advocacy, education, finance, law, fund development, and business management. These phenomenal faces are responsible for taking care of the strategic and financial health of the organization on an ongoing basis. Board terms are three years but the relationships are for a lifetime.
